Singapore is a small country, almost the same size as Phu Quoc island of Vietnam. It is about 275 square miles, smaller than the State of Rhode Island, and inhabited by five million people from four major communities: Chinese (75.9%), Malays (15%), Indians (7.5%), and Eurasian (1.6%).
You can find Singapore’s most authentic cuisine with the Local Hawker centres. Hawker food is usually cheaper than the food courts, and restaurants. if you concern about hygiene standards, then you should look out for the colored placards, from A (the best) to D (a risk), displayed at each stall.
Singapore is one of the safest cities in Asia, and the world. Singapore keeps its crime rate low by enforcing strict laws and punishments on those who break the law, as well as having a sophisticated system of surveillance.
There are four official languages in Singapore: Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and English. But, most Singaporeans speak English.
Singapore is constantly changing with people who are passionate about creating new possibilities. There are many attractions. In my opinion, the four best spots that you should visit while in this country are Merlion Park, Sentosa Island, Night Safari and China Town.
Merlion Park
Merlion Park is a Singapore landmark and most popular tourist attraction. This promenade overlooking Marina Bay is home to Singapore’s iconic Merlion statue, which is a half lion and half fish that shoots water into the bay. The fish symbolizes its beginning as a fishing village, while the lion head represents its original name “Singapura”, which means “Lion City”.
It would be a best moment when you may find a spacious spot for photo taking. It’s a nice area to sit around, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the incredible views.
Sentosa Island
Sentosa Island is an island that was built for fun and recreation. Many attractions offer at Sentosa include the Resorts World, Universal Studios, Tiger Sky Tower, Butterfly and Insect Kingdom and one of the largest collections of aquatic animals in the world, SEA Aquarium.
SEA Aquarium (South East Asia Aquarium) is a beautiful aquarium with plenty of fishes, sharks, etc. It is a good place to visit with family and a wonderful experience for young children. Those attractions draw visitors to come back from all over Asia.
Night Safari
Night Safari is truly a unique attraction. It is not only an interesting place worth to visit, but it also a leading conservation and research center in Asia. It has more than 59 exhibits and 1,000 animals to be seen. Take a trip around the world via walking trails and trams that connect eight geographical regions. You can see exotic and endangered species such as the Himalayan griffon vulture, greater one-horned rhinoceros, wildebeests, gazelles, giant anteater and the gaur (wild cattle) of Burma.
China Town
Chinatown Singapore is famous for a lot of things such as Sri Mariamman Temple, Pinnacle@Duxton Skybridge, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Singapore City Gallery, Chinatown Street Market, Red Dot Design Museum, Thian Hock Keng Temple, NUS Baba House, etc.
There are many things to do in China Town. If you walk around China Town, you can see ornate Chinese, Buddhist and Hindu temples. There are a large number of museums and plenty of opportunities to soak up the busy streets lined with old shop houses. Don’t forget to check out the oldest temple in Singapore “Thian Hock Keng“, which built without nails. There are wood carving shops, tea houses and flower sellers on the street.
In Singapore, food center hawker stalls are the places to eat. There are three food centers packed with hawker stalls in Chinatown: Chinatown Complex Food Centre, Maxwell Food Center and Chinatown Food Street. The local cuisine is mouth-watering!
